Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: Isaiah 28:9,10

One of the technological aspects of warfare employs the concept of radar frequency “jamming.” Jamming, as is commonly defined, is the intentional emission of radio frequency signals to interfere with the operation of a radar by saturating its receiver with noise or false information. There are two major types of frequency jamming. Mechanical Jamming employs the use of Chaff – metallic strips that reflect and distort frequencies, Corner Reflectors which re-radiate radar energy back to it’s source and Decoys to deceive radar operation. Electrical Jamming on the other hand, covers a broader spectrum of interference including but not limited to Spot Jamming, which is focusing all jamming power on a particular frequency, Pulse Jamming, which create noise pulses designed to manipulate the radar mast rotation speed causing multi-directional blind sectors and Barrage Jamming, which jams multiple frequencies simultaneously by a single jammer. In fact, in any war-zone, alongside hostile jamming, the enemy does many things to cause chaos and disorder like turning road signs, etc., in order to cause confusion.

Therefore, an engineer, or coding specialist who is anticipating hostile jamming or other countermeasures, will create a communication system which utilizes several specific methods or techniques to ensure effectiveness. Alongside the utilization of error detection and correction techniques described above, he will also seek to spread his message across the entire available bandwidth to guarantee the greatest saturation and likelihood that the message reaches it’s intended target(s). The engineer will be careful to avoid bunching or grouping his message into only specific areas or frequencies which would increase the likelihood of it’s vulnerability to hostile jamming and other countermeasures.

It is between provocative and astonishing to note that the text of the Bible exhibits many of these same techniques. I have mentioned in other articles how one of the most significant discoveries of my life was that the 66 books of the Bible are actually an integrated message system from outside our time domain. What I mean and have tried to demonstrate is that God authenticates his authorship of the Bible in many ways, not the least of which however, is to lay out history in advance so that we can know that God inspired it’s message.

In fact, God Himself brags in Isaiah 46:10:

Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things which have not been done,
Saying, ‘My purpose will be established,
And I will accomplish all My good pleasure’;

It has been said by Augustine and many after him that “In the Old Testament the New Testament is concealed; in the New Testament the Old Testament is revealed.”

That could only be true by Divine Inspiration. In addition, He communicates His message to us down through the ages, across 40 different authors, through 66 separately penned books, over several thousand years, and not only is there no internal inconsistencies or errors, it is designed to be unassailable to hostile jamming by the enemy of our souls.

Now, for those of you reading this that are not believers in Jesus, please suspend disbelief for one moment and consider my point. Imagine if you would, that God really exists, really created you and really loves you. Imagine that everything the Bible says about a devil that hates you and wants to destroy you is reality. Although we rejected God and chose our own paths away and against God, He still loves you and wants to forgive you for your rebellious rejection of Him. So God communicates a message to us explaining the terms of reconciliation to us (placing faith in Christ’s finished work on the cross), and how to live rightly before Him.

However, God also knows that the enemy who is at war with Him and humanity, will stop at nothing to make sure that God’s message does not reach it’s intended target–us. The enemy, aware of his eternal damnation, wants to take out as many of us as possible, along with him. Therefore, the enemy does what enemies do during wartime. He sends confusion by turning road signs, (trying to pervert the Gospel message by raising up cults), by sending false communications, (inspiring every false religion in the world), and even attacks the transmission itself as flawed or unauthentic giving seemingly scientific reasons to reject the communication.

Timothy, guard what God has entrusted to you. Avoid godless, foolish discussions with those who oppose you with their so-called science (knowledge).

Try as he might however, the enemy has never been able to successfully jam the Gospel message of the Bible, though empires down through the ages were inspired by him to ban and burn it without success.

The reason that the Bible is invulnerable to hostile jamming is because it’s message is spread out across the available bandwidth. Where in the Bible is the chapter on Worship? Where is the chapter on Prayer? Or Baptism? Or Salvation? Or any other critical doctrine? You will not find it because every major theme is spread out across all 66 books. You will not find any essential element concentrated in any single location in the Bible.

I am reminded that in Luke 24:27, as the disciples were walking along the Emmaus Road, and Jesus joined them, he showed them from the Old Testament Scriptures, all the passages regarding Himself:

And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

The reason that Jesus was able to expound on the Old Testament’s teaching concerning Messiah from Moses–the first five books all the way through the writings of the prophets is because the Bible was designed to withstand hostile jamming. In other words, the idea of the coming Messiah was not a concept found in some peculiar verse in a dark corner of the Old Testament, but rather Jesus is the entire thrust and purpose of the entire communication! And since so much time was spent on him, including his city of birth and time of arrival, etc, the Israelites were held accountable for not recognizing the time of his visitation. (Luke 13:34)

As a result, one can tear out a surprising number of pages and decimate large portions of the Scriptures and yet still not lose the intended message from God to his people. While it is true, like the pixelated image above, that you might lose some resolution or clarity, the vital elements of the message arrive entirely intact to their intended recipients.

The grass withers and the flowers fade
but the word of our God stands forever.” (Isaiah 40:8)
